Slack, ya heard of it?

slack-homepage

Ok, so this post is to help catch up those folks that haven’t heard about Slack. I say this because everyone that brings up slack to an unknowing audience seems to act as if you’ve never heard of water “WHATTTTT?!?! you haven’t heard of slack?!”. Don’t get me wrong, its a great communication platform, you can do some great things and is unbelievably flexible and easy customize. I just want to help you get you “in the know”.

It has integrations with the likes Box, Dropbox, Github, Google Calendar, GoToMeeting, IFTT, JIRA, MailChimp, Screenhero, Twitter, wunderlist, Zendesk and a ton more things. They have apps for iphone and android and even a native desktop app for mac. Its a serious product, even if we sometimes just use it as another platform to send animated gifs.

So go ahead, get in the know. Try it for free. They even have a pretty sweet homepage with some stats on how its helped teams.

100 Days of UI

Daily UI

Are you looking to do better UI work? Well then I have something for you to put on your to-do list. Something called Daily UI, brought to you by the folks at Noon Pacific.  Seems like a pretty cool/fun concept. They give you a challenge/task Monday-Friday for 100 days. You post the result of the task to dribble or twitter with #dailyUI and people give feedback. So if you feel up for it, give them your email and get started.

(full disclosure, I haven’t actually done this yet so you’ll have to judge for yourself. I will be trying it, so if you do try it out, let me know how it goes!)

Poorly Drawn Lines

my_fun_side

Sometimes we all need a good laugh. Nothing like a good quick laugh every day or so to brighten your day. Thats where Poorly Drawn lines comes in for me. Poorly Drawn Lines is an online comic site created by a fella by the name of Reza Farazmand out of San Fran. If I were you, although I am obviously not, I would give them a follow on a social platform of your choosing (as long as its either facebook or twitter). Or just check out their site a couple times throughout the week.

P.S. He even has a book out now! so you should totally check that out as well.

Wedge & Lever

Wedge & Lever

Edit: So, Apparently this post has been on draft since… oh… June 6th, 2014! Better late than never?

A pretty bad ass studio called Wedge & Lever based in San Diego, California just launched a new sexy site. They’ve got some great work that I’d check out if I were you. I posted a couple shots of a project that I really enjoyed ( Good Wood – TransWorld Snowboarding ), so you can start there and find your way to the rest of their portfolio after. Enjoy!

The amazing thing over the last 10 years with the web (and all things digital) is the amount of control you have over all the different elements. The attention to every little detail of the damn sexy UI your creating is off the charts. But sometimes you need a little inspiration of what is even possible now. Well here you go, Inline link styles! There are some great articles Inline styles and a few others by Mary Lou over at Codedrops.

Homer's Thoughts - Noeeko

I’ve seen my share of Simpson’s episodes so I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what goes on in Homer’s head. Let me tell you, I think the folks at Noeeko, hailing from Poland, hit it on the head. So check out their Homer’s Thoughts print, as well as a couple other things that caught my eye. All good stuff!
